How you can Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle your way to a cleaner planet
Imagine the difference we could make if everyone collected just one piece of rubbish today. That doesn’t seem too difficult, does it? Now, let’s go one step further… imagine if we just stopped creating waste in the first place.
Let us show you how you can use the simple motto, “reduce, reuse and recycle” to help create a waste-free world!
How can you create a cleaner planet?
Reduce
Reduce the amount of waste you create by swapping single-use items for sustainable alternatives. Some of our favourite swaps include:
Over 500 million plastic straws are produced every, single, day. Make sure your straw doesn’t end up causing harm to our marine life by swapping to an environmentally-friendly, borosilicate glass straw (which comes with an included straw cleaner).
We promise your coffee will never taste as good as when you are drinking from a BPA-plastic free, double-wall insulated, durable reusable cup!
Nothing hurts our little eco-friendly hearts more than when we see people leaving the shops with several plastic bags in tow. That’s why we only ever use recyclable paper bags at Nurcha, or if you want a bag that you can use again and again, grab one of our stylish, convenient, portable string bags.
Recycle
Recycle goods that no longer serve you. Just make sure you are up-to-date on your local council’s recycling guide (and be sure to check those little recycling symbols) and you can make a huge difference by giving waste another life.
Remember you can also recycle your food. Pop in store to see our range of benchtop compost bins and never let a food scrap go to waste again!
Reuse
Reuse the things that you already have! So many people forget about the products and items they already have in excess at home. We challenge you to dig through your cupboards for any hidden treasures you might have forgotten.
This can include rinsing used glass pasta jars to create aesthetically-pleasing pantry shelves, wearing old clothing that you might have forgotten about (did you know flare jeans and 90s shirts are back in fashion?), or upcycling old furniture with a simple sand and varnish.
World Clean Up Day is a global movement that aims to unite communities around the globe with the shared desire to create a cleaner planet. Despite the pandemic, more than 13.5 million people from 191 countries participated in clean ups in 2021 and we want to beat that this year!
We strongly encourage you to get involved by attending local clean ups that are happening in your area. If you are local to the Sunshine Coast, Plastic Free Noosa will be organising a clean up at Sunshine Beach from 8am on Saturday. We hope to see you there!
