JACZS Produce are a family owned sustainable farm who are using Nurcha’s plant waste to make compost. The hot composting technique returns carbon to the soil to support biodiversity, sustainability and plant health.
Food waste in landfill produces carbon dioxide but also methane, which is 23 times more potent as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.
In the last month, we have worked together to save 3,990 kg of CO2 emissions (wow!) and methane, nearly a years worth of electricity for a household has been saved so far.
sustainability is our heart and soul
Sustainability is a key priority to us here at Cafe Nurcha. Everyday we seek to develop and perfect practices aimed at reducing our footprint.
We look for alternative packaging for our , source eco-friendly and reusable products and packaging in our store. We strive to reduce the energy that our business uses each day. Nurcha is very mindful of our effect on the planet.
Our team knows that even small changes such as switching from plastic to paper straws for our drinks, can have a big impact on the environment.
We ensure that all of our reusable shopping bags are made from 100% recycled materials too.
We hope so! We try to recycle and reuse boxes and packaging materials whenever possible. Nurcha embraces that fact that our deliveries may arrive looking a bit “ugly”! It means that we practice what we preach.
If you plan on forwarding our product on, we hope that you send it forward in a box that looks battered too! Every bit helps and every bit is another step towards reducing our footprint.
Because of this, we regularly take part in community beach clean up days. At these events, we come together to collect discarded rubbish and plastics that pollute our local beaches. By taking direct action to reduce the amount of waste and unsafe materials that enter our oceans, we beautify our environment and protect our wildlife.
We believe that a plant-based lifestyle can only benefit our planet. With a philosophy of integrity, health and hope as our motivation, we strive to change the world; one meal at a time. Being vegan means many things to Nurcha and it embodies all facets of life.
