what is so great about vegan food?

Nurcha Cafe sources its produce from the best local suppliers.

Vegan food is unique in that it must be 100% plant-based, and cruelty free. Ingredients cannot be derived from animals or animal by-products.

This means that choosing to be vegan is inherently healthy and great for our planet, when produced and sourced properly.

Nurcha carefully researches all of its suppliers and where possible, we work with only those who are local to us.

Our partners all share the same ethos as we do and align with our values of authenticity, sustainability, ethical production, community, innovation and inclusivity.

See below for examples of just some of the ethical brands and suppliers we work with.

What Makes Food “Vegan”?

Food must not contain any animal products or by-products for it to be vegan.  Additionally, vegan products can not be tested on animals and their production can not involve any kind of negative impact on animals or their environment.  Food cannot be produced with methods that involve cruelty of any kind.

For this reason, foods that vegetarians eat, such as eggs and dairy products are not considered to be vegan.

How did Cafe Nurcha arrive at the decision to become dairy-free? Through many years of research we came to a basic truth. That truth is this: “By observing nature and living a natural life, health and happiness is guaranteed.” The dairy industry is a clear example of this.

Milk is a liquid food produced by a mother animal for its offspring. It is filled with fats and hormones designed perfectly for that offspring to survive and thrive. Mother’s milk is packed with genetically coded hormones designed for that species and its environment. It should come as no surprise that if humans consume a food that is full of hormones not designed for our species, an imbalance will occur.

These hormonal imbalances can result in hormonal dysfunction and result in symptoms such as anxiety and depression. And that’s just the start.

Of course not! To us, it makes sense that people would not consume hormones intended for animals other than ourselves. Furthermore, once humans reach the age of two or three, we do not even choose human breast milk to be in our diets anymore.

If we observe nature, we see that no animal continues to drink breast milk after a certain age and the mother’s milk ceases to be produced as the offspring begins to consume its natural diet.

No other animal on the planet drinks the breast milk of another animal, and with so many dairy-free alternatives available, why do humans?

How’s that for some food for thought?

The video below delves deeper into this issue and may provide you with some alarming information that you had never considered before.

The Nurcha Ethos

We understand that in today’s society, it is hard to maintain an earth-friendly approach at all times. But we need change. We need to make a difference. How do we achieve this? We do so by TRYING.

We don’t need a handful of people doing sustainable living perfectly, we need MILLIONS of people doing it imperfectly.

We walk the walk AND talk the talk. We live by our values. What you see is what you get – from our staff, to our food, to our product ranges.

From our products, to our processes, to our packaging and even our decor choices, sustainability is always our close to our heart. We aim to do no harm. It is a hard call, but we work hard to achieve this in all that we do and offer.

Nurcha sources food products locally whenever possible. We collaborate with local businesses and producers who have values that align with ours. Our lifestyle product offerings are always produced ethically and we carefully curate this before adding any new brands to our range.

We all seek to find our “tribe”. Diversity, tolerance and community are what we strive for. We embrace all beings and wish happiness to all. Everybody is welcome at Nurcha.

We believe that to create change, we must accept change. We embrace new technologies in a bid to evolve and forever improve on our sustainability practices and the footprint we leave on the earth.

We carefully select our product ranges and menu items to ensure that they can be enjoyed by all. Our planet can never benefit if only a small few can afford to live sustainably or eat vegan. Our pricing structures are designed to be within reach of everyone, regardless of budget.
