Have you tried our shampoo or conditioner bars?
Hello Nurcha followers!
This is Kylie from my pillow desk, (after work hours and after single parenting bedtime is done)… see attached photo proof! So this is either going to be educational, interesting, funny – or just plain “I think it’s time to go to bed, Kylie”…
Either way, bear with me, it’s my first blog!
I chose to do my very own Nurcha write up on ‘Plastic Free July’ and the first product I thought about that could make one of the biggest changes;
Shampoo Bars
I was super sceptical about them at first.
My hair is its own entity on its best day, let alone being a natural-born redhead (that comes with its own warning signs), we are also renowned to have super sensitive skin, easily reactive in personality and also to products… throw in my hair is waist length, thick as, and what feels like some days, piano wire. Caring for my ‘mane’ is another job to put on the to-do list. I literally have to pencil it in on my days off so it might have time to dry… otherwise, it’s still wet from being up all day. Seriously, I believe I could drop 2 or 3kgs if I shaved it off!
Anyway, I first entertained a shampoo bar when my now 12-year-old son went to school camp a year or so ago… The thought of bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash potentially leaking through his neatly folded clothes, sleeping bag and pillow enforced me to think of a better way to pack his necessities. This is where the bar came to mind. I explained to my ‘mister clean’ how one bar could be all three in one – he was very excited to have something new to try on his time away.
It was simple, easy and quick… how my boys seem to enjoy most menial tasks
After hearing about the adventures and antics after said camp, I asked how his ‘new-found’ body bar went… His words to me were “I didn’t have to carry anything much back and forth mum, not like the others”. Just like that, he was sold, and so was I. He’s been using one at my house ever since.
So after really looking into them, not only did these bars claim that they are equivalent to 6 bottles of shampoo, conditioner and/or body wash, some are even specifically designed for coloured, dry or normal hair. Perfect huh?
The Real Test
So, I finally decided to give it a go, to see for myself what they were all about and whether it could possibly be for me, or everyone? And that maybe my ‘mane’ would put the product to a good rigorous test!
I was surprised, to say the least!
It lathered with the greatest of ease. I literally ran the bar down my hair a few times and created a pair of soapy hand gloves – as we do… and it all worked like magic from there! My mane was literally squeaky clean in minutes and it washed out beautifully!
Winner!
Plus being someone who has a few sleepovers at my partners’ house (sometimes every week), it was the perfect companion. It could cover soap, shaving, shampoo and conditioner.
The best thing was after meeting said body bar, I definitely have received more than a dozen bottles’ worth in the first bar. I was stoked! And so much less to think about. I have an ‘all in one’ whether I’m home or out and about.
Plus after contemplating all of this personal gain, I began to think what just what else have I saved, (not just money-wise) but all that landfill – and even worse, our oceans.
I thought to myself, “Why wouldn’t I have given a product like this a go earlier?” Yet I hadn’t. Simply because I didn’t think it would be for me and my fiery co-part.
All I can say is, if you haven’t tried one, I encourage you to give it a go! It’s a good time.
