Try Vegan this January!

You might already be a proud vegan but it’s likely you know someone – a loved one, a friend, a work colleague – who could benefit from joining you on their own plant-based journey. Whilst we agree that there are a million and one reasons to go vegan, we have picked 22 reasons to inspire you, or someone you love, to begin a vegan lifestyle.

Why you should go vegan in 2022:

  1. You can change the world, one meal at a time.

Every meal you enjoy as a vegan has an impact for the greater good. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing – just take it one meal at a time.

  1. You will reduce your carbon footprint.

Global agriculture is responsible for 24% of greenhouse gas emissions, stepping away from animal agriculture means less greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere.

  1. It can lead to better choices.

Most people find that once they make the transition to a vegan lifestyle, it encourages them to make healthier choices in other areas of life, such as exercise, nutrition, and mindfulness.

  1. It’s important for a sustainable planet.

It is well known that eating plant-based is better for the planet. The legendary David Attenborough admits in his latest documentary A Life on Our Planet, “We must change our diet. The planet can’t support billions of meat-eaters”.

  1. You won’t harm any living creatures.

One of the best benefits of going vegan is knowing that you are not causing harm to any living, sentient beings.

  1. Vegan products are better for the environment.

You can clean your home with the peace of mind that you’re not harming our waterways.

  1. You can try delicious new dishes.

Try new flavour combinations you wouldn’t have tried before, such as jackfruit pizzas and flavour-packed curries.

  1. You can still enjoy all of your favourite meals.

Anything you used to eat, you can eat vegan. It’s now 2022 and there is absolutely no reason to go without, even major fast-food chains have vegan options.

  1. You’ll share a trait with your favourite celebrity.

Join the line-up of famous compassionate stars: Joaquin Phoenix, Billie Eilis and Russel Brand, just to name a few.

  1. You can try exciting new products.

There are new innovative products coming out every day, from plant-based burger patties to buttery vegan pies.

  1. You can help protect our oceans.

By reducing the global demand for seafood, you are helping to conserve marine and freshwater species.

  1. Vegan chocolate. Enough said.

Welcome to the world of Vego, Bennetto’s and Australian-made Loving Earth. We promise there will be a dessert for every taste bud out there!

  1. Join a community of compassionate and kind-hearted individuals.

Whether it is here on the Sunshine Coast or abroad, if you can find a vegan community, you will find a group of empathic individuals ready to welcome you with open arms.

  1. Treat yourself to a meal out!

You can explore new and exciting places to eat in your local area, such as our own café Nurcha and our delicious menu of plant-based goodness.

  1. You don’t need to contribute to the cruelty of the dairy industry.

Going vegan reduces the demand for dairy products, which involves the exploitation of cows and cruelty towards innocent calves.

  1. It’s better for your health.

Going vegan is shown to lower your risk for heart disease and reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

  1. It can improve your digestion.

Going vegan generally goes hand-in-hand with increasing your consumption of fibre, which promotes regular bowel movements and a healthy gut microbiome.

  1. It can help to clear your skin.

Removing inflammatory dairy products has been shown to help reduce acne and pimples and lead to visibly clearer skin.

  1. You will save money.

If you’ve ever compared the price of beef to a can of beans, you know that meat can be very expensive in comparison to plant-based wholefoods. Keep some money in the bank by swapping your meat for legumes.

  1. You can save precious water.

The average meat eater requires 16 Olympic swimming pools of water to produce the meat they will eat in their life.

  1. To upgrade your culinary prowess.

Cooking vegan will test your skills in the kitchen by encouraging you to think outside the box. Try making your own nut cheese from blended cashews, or make your own milk from soaked and blended oats.

  1. You will feel happier!

Whether it is because of the health benefits, the knowledge that you’re helping the environment or just the tasty food – the findings show that going vegan does wonders for improving your mood and overall happiness in life.
