Easy Golden Milk Recipe

Easy Golden Milk Recipe

Golden Milk Recipe

Golden Milk is a traditional Indian drink that has its roots in Ayurveda. Not to be confused with a traditional Indian Chai, in its simplest form, Golden Milk is a blend of hot milk and ground turmeric!

This warm and powerful brew can offer a number of benefits, including:

– Reducing inflammation.
– Preventing cell damage.
– Improving mood.
– Supporting brain function and improving memory.
– Preventing heart disease.
– Possibly reducing the risk of cancer.
– Lowering blood sugar levels.
– Boosting the immune system.

The Benefits

All of these benefits stem from one key ingredient… Turmeric! While it’s currently growing hugely in popularity it has been used in Ayurvedic practices for a long time.

Although it’s actually Curcumin, the compound found in Turmeric that helps the spice be able to provide it’s magic!

It’s known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-tumour and antioxidant properties. It’s also what creates the gorgeous orange Turmeric colour… that may also stain your clothes and cups (if you currently use Turmeric, you’ll understand).

Many think that Turmeric may be one of the most effective nutritional substance in existence! So, what exactly are the benefits of this incredible root? Click here to read all of the benefits Turmeric can provide.

Ingredients:

– 1 cups unsweetened plain almond milk or milk of choice (DIY or store-bought)
– 1 1/2 tsp ground turmeric.
– 1/4 tsp ground ginger.
– 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon.
– 1 Tbsp coconut oil.
– 1 pinch ground black pepper
– Sweetener of choice (i.e. maple syrup, coconut sugar, or stevia to taste) – All available online & in-store.

For an extra kick of goodness add in Ashwagandha or your favourite mushroom! We love adding the Masons Mushroom blend. For a morning pick me up we also recommend the Jing Blend, both by Superfeast!

Step 1. To a small saucepan, add coconut milk, almond milk, ground turmeric, ground ginger, cinnamon, coconut oil, black pepper, and sweetener of choice (adjust to taste preference)

Step 2. Whisk/stir to combine and warm over medium heat. Heat until hot to the touch but not boiling – about 4 minutes – whisking frequently.

Step 3. Turn off heat and taste to adjust flavour. Add more sweetener to taste or more turmeric or ginger for intense spice + flavour.

Step 4. Serve immediately, dividing between two glasses. Best when fresh, though leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat on the stovetop or microwave until hot. This can also be enjoyed iced in the summer months! Yum!
